Inclusive Design Method

This course will focus on learning the inclusive design technique used to provide evidence-based research in business problems. Students will learn the practical, iterative, people-centred technique utilized by Design Council. 

Skills and Competencies

  • apply the Double Diamond four-step process to discover and develop inclusive solutions
  • utilize inclusive tools to conduct research
  • integrate dimensions of diversity including age, ability, gender, race, finance, education, social, institutional, economic and cultural tensions into problem-solving
  • engage and communicate using contemporary disability identity language
Inclusive Design Method

Creating Accessible Digital Media

This course will focus on creating accessible digital media. Students will learn how to use industry software to create Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliant solutions for documents, presentations and websites. 

Skills and Competencies

  • use inclusive strategies and tools to produce accessible multimedia digital content
  • interpret and apply the requirements of the AODA/Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) legislation and the current version of WCAG 2.1
  • identify and remove accessibility barriers in digital media and services
  • implement inclusion frameworks to meet universal content standards
  • develop media solutions for people with disabilities
  • engage and communicate using contemporary disability identity language
Creating Accessible Digital Media

Inclusive Business Plan

This course will focus on creating an inclusive business plan. Students will learn how to integrate an inclusive business checklist into a company's planning to add value and avoid delays, complaints, legal challenges and costly retrofits.

  • identify the legislation, enforcement and economics that drive inclusion in business
  • create a concise inclusive argument for business decisions surrounding diversity
  • develop an inclusive business model
