Yvonne Ng-Gerritsen

As an active member of the Therapeutic Recreation profession, Yvonne is passionate about teaching and sharing her experiences with students in the Honours Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation program. Yvonne has a BA and MA in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Waterloo and currently hold designations for R/TRO and CTRS, and will continue to pursue this path to promote regulation of the field.


Peivand Pirouzi

Peivand is a professor at Seneca with experience in teaching and performing clinical research in academia and the pharmaceutical industry in Canada since 1990. Peivand has a PhD in Physiology and Biophysics from the School of Medicine, University of Sherbrooke, and MSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Quebec and an MBA from American Management and Business Administration Institute.

Peivand has been involved in Healthcare Management, administration, and clinical research at Seneca, in addition to nursing, therapeutic recreation, fitness and health, recreation and leisure, emergency services communications and social service worker programs.


Babatunde Oyapero

Babatunde Oyapero is a full-time professor in the Honours Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation program. Babatunde holds a PhD in Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of Waterloo and a diploma in Therapeutic Recreation-Gerontology from Lethbridge College. He is a member of the Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) and is currently enrolled in the Master of Education in Postsecondary Education program at Memorial University of Newfoundland.


James Manson

James Manson’s love for learning and teaching has brought him to Seneca where he teaches full time in the Therapeutic Recreation degree program. With a background in epidemiological research, he examines recreational forms of physical activity and the positive influence this has on people’s health. He also practices what he preaches and, as a former professional musician, he now uses his music as a form of therapeutic recreation. Mr. Manson holds a PhD, a master’s degree in science, two bachelor of arts degrees in kinesiology and music, and a master’s degree in music. He is also a certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist and a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
