Hammam Spa & Céla establish new award for Seneca esthetics students

In 2022, Hammam Spa and its skincare line, Céla, collaborated with students and faculty in the School of Biological Sciences and Applied Chemistry to create an anti-aging face oil using Canadian-sourced ingredients like red maple bark extract, sweet almond, jojoba, cranberry seed and meadowfoam oil. Céla wanted to highlight the richness of Canadian nature and create an end-to-end Canadian supply chain. The new anti-aging oil will be available this spring at Hammam Spa locations.

Hammam Spa has also established a financial aid award for students in the Esthetics and Medical Spa Therapies program. The Hammam Spa Scholarship is available to a student enrolled in the third year of the Esthetics and Spa Therapies program.

Financial aid can greatly benefit students by reducing the burden of educational expenses which allows students to better focus on their studies. For example, a $500 bursary is equivalent to 36 hours of work for a student earning minimum wage. According to survey results from Seneca students, 79 per cent are experiencing financial hardship. Another one in four students have experienced food insecurity and three out of four students have had their employment affected.

Awards provide validation, confidence and empowerment to students, allowing them to reach their full potential. In turn, this can result in better career opportunities and a stronger society.

“Supporting financial aid award is the perfect way for us to contribute back to an industry which has given me and more than 100 other employees rewarding, dynamic carriers,” says Celine Tadrissi, Founder and Director, Hammam Spa by Céla. “Being able to support students who are passionate about learning in this industry is truly fulfilling for our team — many of whom are graduates of the program at Seneca.”
