Dual Credit Courses Taken

Introduction to Marketing, Introduction to Business Administration

Seneca Program

Why are you interested in sharing your Dual Credit experience?

It was an amazing program that provided me with a head start for my program at Seneca. I ended up staying with Seneca for five years after taking Dual Credit. I had an amazing professor at the beginning for Dual Credit and it prepares you for the college pathway. Dual Credit gave me an early start in comparison to my peers and made my college selection easier.

What did you enjoy the most about Dual Credit and your experience?

They treated us like regular college students, and I made wonderful friendships. The professor was amazing, she was a business owner of a Second Cup, so she really used and spoke about her experience.

It gave me a sense of comfort and familiarity with Seneca even though it was a different campus. You have access to so many resources (Computing Commons, etc.).

Why would you recommend Dual Credit to a current high school student? What advice would you give to a student considering taking Dual Credit?

It’s a free program, where the tuition, courses and textbooks are included. You can apply to have your credit transferred to your postsecondary program, so you have nothing to lose.

You are not alone, there are always people to help you out! There is the Dual Credit team, the professor and your peers (your age). Nothing to be scared or nervous for.

How did the skills or knowledge learned from your Dual Credit course help you with what you do now?

Everything that I did in Dual Credit and the program was related to business — I work now as an Administrative Assistant, so it was directly related to my career. The Dual Credit courses related well to the program that I did, Honours Bachelor of Commerce, and my career; everything connects.

Dual Credit helps you be more independent, helps you grow up and prepares you for after high school.

Is there any experience from Dual Credit that was memorable or that you were proud of?

Orientation and end of semester celebration events with pizza parties that connected Dual Credit students from various courses together, so we got to meet other high school Dual Credit students.
